Specialty Consults and Proceedures –

We are extremely lucky to practice in an area where high quality medical and surgical specialists are available to supplement our abilities to diagnose and treat our dogs and cats.

We have received invaluable help from Dr Patty Hogan of NEVS who is a regular visitor at Apple Valley to perform and read ultrasound studies and consult on radiograph interpretation and Dr Melvyn Pond who also is able to provide advanced surgical options for our patients either here at our hospital or at the New Haven Central Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Emily Rothstein, Southington veterinary dermatologist, is also often called upon to consult on difficult skin disorders. There are several other consultants available to us so that we can provide the best treatment options for your pet’s medical or behavior problems.

Medical Boarding

While we do not offer routine boarding because our kennel space is limited and we are concerned about housing healthy and ill patients together, we do at times offer medical boarding for pets that are taking medications by injection (such as insulin) or for compromised pets that require special attention that is difficult to provide at a routine boarding facility.

Cremation Services

It is sad but true that dogs and cats have lives that are not as long as ours, and since our pets are really members of our families, there is a need for properly dealing with the loss of a pet.  Final Gift Pet Services is our provider for those needs.  They offer a range of burial and cremation options, as well as an interactive website and grief counseling.
